In this new monthly Industry Insights on Research & Innovation Seminar (IIRIS) series, presented by Technology Opportunities & Ventures (TOV), experts from innovative startups will join us to discuss how their companies are using cutting-edge science to develop the next generation of therapeutics, diagnostics, medical devices, & more. They will also share insights into industry trends & career opportunities, & answer questions from attendees. The events are free & open to the NYU community & a boxed lunch is provided.

This month, our guest speaker is Dr. Gayatri Arun, Vice President of Biology at Envisagenics. Dr. Arun has more than 18 years of research experience in RNA biology & understanding RNA regulation in various diseases.

Envisagenics is a biotechnology research company that uses artificial intelligence & machine learning to unlock the therapeutic potential of RNA. Envisagenics' breakthrough technology, SpliceCore, is a cloud-based platform that is experimentally validated to predict drug targets & biomarkers through splicing discovery from RNA-seq data, using AI.

Full Speaker Bio

Dr. Gayatri Arun serves as the Vice President of Biology at Envisagenics. Dr. Arun has received her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology & Genetics from the prestigious JNCASR, Bangalore, India & had her postdoctoral training at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York. Dr. Arun was awarded the Susan G. Komen fellowship for her work in decoding the role of long non-coding RNAs in breast cancer progression & metastasis. Dr. Arun has more than 18 years of research experience in RNA biology & understanding RNA regulation in various diseases. She led an antisense-based therapeutic development for long non-coding RNAs in breast cancer while at CSHL in collaboration with Ionis pharmaceuticals. She currently leads the target discovery program at Envisagenics & is the head of experimental research & development programs at Envisagenics. Her current research focuses on the discovery of novel splicing-derived targets & therapeutics in oncology, neurodegenerative, & other indications.
