-----------
Speaker 1: Andrew Phillips - Learning from Devops: breaking down the wall between developers & Product Management

Description: Our industry realized a few years ago that maintaining barriers between the people who write the code & those who run it doesn't make sense. The organizations that recognized this & have embraced Devops are now struggling with a different wall: between Product Management & Development.

Andrew will talk about some of the reasons behind the "Prod-Dev wall", compare the "Prod-Dev" & "Dev-Ops" divides to see what lessons can be learned, & discuss tools, routines & attitudes that can help start to break it down.

Bio: Andrew is a frequent contributor to the Continuous Delivery & Devops space. He's been a software engineer, team lead, infrastructure builder (a.k.a. head of duct tape) & community evangelist & now works on product management & strategy. Andrew contributes to a number of open-source projects, is a regular speaker & author & co-organizer of ContainerDays Boston & NYC.

-----------
Speaker 2: Mike Roberts - Crossing the Serverless Fireswamp

Description: Serverless! Its a land of rainbows & unicorns & no operations & zero cost & everything just works, right? Hah! No. It has massive benefits, thats true, but there are some significant traps that can catch you on the way: the flame spurts of unmatched scaling (thats your database you smell burning); the lightning sand of at-least-once delivery (what do you mean my scheduled task cron-replacement may get called twice?); & of course the R.O.U.Ss (regions of unusual stability).

Mike Roberts leads warts-and-all journey through some of the limitations of a serverless approach & shares a practical set of techniques of how to deal with these concerns.

What you'll learn: Explore the limitations of a serverless approach & a practical set of techniques of how to deal with them

Bio: Mike Roberts is an engineering leader & cofounder of Symphonia, a serverless & cloud technology consultancy. Mike is a longtime proponent of Agile & DevOps values & is excited by the role that cloud technologies have played in enabling such values for many high-functioning software teams. He sees serverless architectures as the next technological evolution of cloud systems & is optimistic about their ability to help teams be awesome.
