As a Product Manager, you are a manager of both a product (or feature set) & teams. We often focus on our technical skills, but those roles require some soft skills that are just as valuable. Technical Skills are the tools you use to get the job done & Soft Skills let you know which of those tools to use.
Main takeaways:- Inspire your team & other teams to get the job done everyday.- Being a good storyteller is a key part in bringing people together. Use facts, both qualitative & quantitative for better decision making.- Empathy is important in understanding both your team & your customers in order to build good products.- The Product Manager is the "6th Man" a pinch hitter. Being organized allows us to see the team's holes & helps us build processes & systems that allow our teams to grow & thrive.
Meet the Speaker:Victoria Ugarte
Victoria is currently a Product Manager at Animoto, an award-winning online video maker for professional marketing videos. Having worked extensively in the past on community engagement & internationalization, Victoria enjoys the challenge of incorporating user feedback into great product experiences. Victoria graduated from Columbia College (NY) with a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature & Society (German & Spanish).
