Sherman Toppin is a seasoned attorney & technology instructor with over 20 years of experience in the practice of law. Mr. Toppin leads the Virtual & Digital practice group at his firm & represents clients with transactions & projects that involve metaverse, Web3, DeFi, & other emerging technologies. Mr. Toppin helps clients navigate the SEC regulatory landscape. He also advises project developers regarding how to comply with federal & state statutory privacy requirements.
Mr. Toppin earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia & received his Juris Doctor from the College of William & Mary School of Law. Mr. Toppin also earned an Executive Program certificate at MIT Sloan School of Business for coursework in blockchain technologies.
In academia, Mr. Toppin is currently a member of the Adjunct Faculty at Temple University Real Estate Institute, where he has instructed continuing education courses involving blockchain & virtual land. Mr. Toppin has also instructed courses covering a variety of legal subjects for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute over the years. Through his law firm, Mr. Toppin has developed courses to educate attorneys endeavoring to represent technology clients with metaverse projects.
Mr. Toppin is devoted to assisting the development of an open metaverse, broadening the adoption of crypto, & combating the digital divide.
