This is the inaugural meeting of The Podcast Book Club.nWe will discuss Acquired.fm's latest episode on Renaissance Technologies, so make sure you listen to it before coming!nHeres how The Podcast Book Club works generally:n1) We pick a podcast- most of them will be directly related to topics like venture capital, recent scientific breakthroughs, history, & business generally. Some examples of podcasts we may cover- Sheldon Solomon, Parker Conrad, Xi Jinping's Legacy, Do Technological Innovations Yield Net Gain?, etc.n2) You listen to the podcast. (Important step!)n3) (Optional) You discuss the podcast & other related events/concepts in our Slack. (To get access to the Slack, you need to attend at least one Podcast Book Club event.)n4) Once a month, we come together at our venue in the Duboce Triangle to chat about the podcast & eat tacos.n5) Every once in a while (probably 25-50% of the time), Ill get an expert to come & join the discussion of the podcast.nQ/AnWhy opt for podcasts over books? The most important aspects of modern discourse increasingly center on rapidly shifting topics, & podcasts are uniquely able to keep up with this trend. Additionally, it's common knowledge that most book club members don't actually engage with the assigned material, & podcasts should be a lighter lift.nWho should come?
