Abstract:

Data privacy is an essential feature for cloud services. Most available solutions work well for keeping date encrypted while it is transmitted or stored, but do not work when the data needs to be processed. It is generally difficult to work on data while it is encrypted & the computational overheads often outweigh the advantage of using the cloud to access a superior processor. In the quantum realm, it is possible to exploit uncertainty & entanglement to perform computation without revealing any information using methods such as blind quantum computing & quantum homomorphic encryption. In this talk, I will provide an intuitive introduction to both entanglement & uncertainty relations & show how these can be used to run a computation on an untrusted server.

Bio:

Aharon Brodutch is the Chief Science officer of Agnostiq labs, a quantum software startup specializing in protecting data on the quantum cloud. Aharon, has a Phd in theoretical physics with a thesis on quantum information & over 6 years of post-doctoral experience at the University of Waterloos Institute for Quantum Computing & the University of Torontos Center for Quantum Information & Quantum Control. His work has been focused on various aspects of non-locality & quantum correlations & on their role in quantum-enhanced technologies.
