Goal:
At this workshop you will solidify your understanding of the functional programming paradigm as applied in JavaScript.
10:00 AM - 3:00 PM on Saturday! Pizza and drinks will be provided!
Topics covered:
The philosophy of different programming paradigms: Imperative (e.g. OOP) vs. Declarative (e.g. FP)
Core concepts in Functional Programming: side effects, pure functions, function composition via higher-order functions, immutability, functors
Who this workshop is for:
This workshop is for budding developers with a couple months of JavaScript experience.
Prerequisites:
Hard Requirement: Understanding of Conditionals, Objects, Arrays, Loops & Functions
Strongly Recommended: First five chapters of Eloquent JavaScript (eloquentjavascript.net)
What to bring:
Students will need to bring their own laptops! Windows, Mac or Linux will do it!
NOTE: This workshop will be the first one happening at our NEW campus in the Financial District at 109 Nassau Street. Please do not show up to our old campus at 303 Spring Street.
