About this event
The Green Industrial Design Jam image
Calling all designers, makers, tinkerers, hobbyists, gardeners, scientists, sustainability experts, innovators, chefs, manufacturers, creatives, entrepreneurs, problem solvers, architects, engineers, planners, students/teachers, & anyone with an interest in exploring sustainable manufacturing in New York!

Mangrove FC & Urban Manufacturing Alliance are hosting the Green Industrial Design Jam bringing together individual makers & maker based small businesses that are producing food or beverage products or textile based goods to explore & define new opportunities.

Part one of the Design Jam - Oct. 7th, 3pm to 7pm - offers an optional close look at the practices of start-up & mid-scale manufacturers. The event will begin with a tour of Annie's Ginger Elixir, a Brooklyn Navy Yard business, who will provide insight into their production space & capabilities. It will conclude at Mangrove FC in a session with start-up makers & manufacturers, who will share their stories around their operations & vision for scale. Part 1 on Friday is optional for Design Jam participants.

Part two - Oct. 8th, 10am to 4pm - will be at the Mangrove FC & starts with a panel discussion about the current & future state of sustainable manufacturing. Then multidisciplinary teams - consisting of makers, manufacturers, designers, sustainability experts, & entrepreneurs, both beginners & experts - will spend the day brainstorming opportunities to scale production while becoming more sustainable. Ideas & strategies will be presented at the Jam & packaged as recommendations for all makers to adopt.

The Design Jam is free & open to anyone. Capacity is limited so sign up now!

For any questions, contact: Andrew Dahlgren at Urban Manufacturing Alliance - andrew@urbanmfg.org
