Why: With the emergence of women as the leading cohort of providers within primary care - as of 2020, 51% of dental & medical school graduates are women, & this trend is projected to continue over the upcoming years, & given that women comprise over 90% of hygienists, nurses & office managers - there is a unique opportunity to catalyze some of these dynamic healthcare professionals in one of the most lively cities in the world to accelerate interprofessional collaboration & set an example for how the future of practice can & should look.
What: In connection with this year's GNYDM Meeting, the Henry Schein Cares Foundation & CareQuest Institute for Oral Health are planning a dynamic customer event titled SHE: Successful Healthcare Entrepreneurship. As you know, both the medical & dental professions historically function in silos with little collaboration between each other. Efforts have been made to promote collaboration, yet many barriers exist. We hope to jump-start a specific effort towards interprofessional collaboration in primary care in NYC by encouraging behavior change through a fun nighttime activity incorporating both medical & dental team professionals.
Specifically, we will host a Family Feud-style game where participants will answer questions concerning ways to address patients presenting various indications, utilizing both medical & dental healthcare professionals. We hope to construct teams from across the 5 boroughs of NYC, with a stated goal of creating new relationships that will hopefully persist beyond this event.
Once the game is completed, a quick debrief will focus on the power of collaboration & intra/entrepreneurship. The remaining hour will be an optional portion for attendees to network, connect with each other & enjoy the 40/40 club with an open bar, passed hors d'oevres & food stations.
Who: We are looking for innovative, dynamic, & forward-thinking men & women who are physicians, dental practitioners, nurses, & hygienists that have interest in being part of advancing integrated care models & a willingness to meeting other healthcare professionals who share this passion.
