GiveWell started with a question: how can I do the most good with my donation?
GiveWell seeks to find & recommend outstanding giving opportunities to donors. It has a very short list of top charitiesjust nine organizations in 2021. In this talk, you'll learn how GiveWell arrives at its recommendations by analyzing evidence & estimating cost-effectiveness to narrow down a long list of promising programs.

Catherine focuses on sharing GiveWell's research as effectively as possible. She graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in history. She has worked as a journalist covering economics & health care for National Journal, & as editorial director for Beacon, an independent funding platform for journalism. She joined GiveWell in May 2015.
