Fire up your creativity neurons, play imaginative games, relieve stress, & tell stories!
About this Event
I'll tell you a secret... you are a storyteller.

This is an on-your feet online workshop focused on storytelling. You will play games, do storytelling exercises & learn tools to help you connect to your audience. This class is for all skill levels.

Why Improv?
Stanford, IDEO, Forbes, the New York Times, Harvard Business Review & many other publications have written about how improv training is amazing business training, improves communication, increases creativity for teams & reduces anxiety. But what's the deal? How does improv help us?

Practicing Improv helps people:

Listen & be present
Be better communicators
Tap into creativity
Relieve anxiety/stress & release tension
Celebrate making mistakes & be more resilient
Gracefully deal with uncertainty
Make your partners look good & collaborate on teams more effectively
YES AND in addition to being useful, improv is fun!
What Takeaways to Expect
Develop deeper listening skills
Hone your audience awareness
Embrace body language that makes you open & flexible to ideas instead of closed off.
Be more comfortable going off-script (i.e. improvising) during presentations, in Q&A, & in life.
Take the focus off yourself & serve your audience by being interested, instead of being interesting
Use yes & thinking to collaborate more creatively & effectively with your team
Take care of your teammates & notice when team members feel excluded or afraid to contribute their thoughts. Sometimes, great ideas go unspoken.
Who Should Attend
Anyone who wants to strengthen their storytelling, play fun games, relieve stress, learn new skills & have fun!

Arrival Time & Setup
Arrival

Show up five to ten minutes before class.
Have a bottle of water nearby.
We recommend using the bathroom before class begins.
Setup

Setup your laptop or phone so that you can stand & play during class. These games & exercises are more fun when you are standing & can use your body.
Before class begins, make sure your video & sound work. If they do not work, please leave class to make space for someone who can play. You can still tune in to class & play with friends & family remotely via the live stream here.
Have a chair nearby in case you need to sit down & take a break during class discussion. However, we encourage you to play up on your feet as much as you can during partner & small group exercises!
Our Mission
Share the joy of improv & storytelling with people who haven't had the opportunity to explore who they are & relate to others through imaginative play.
Make storytelling & the nurturing of the imagination more accessible to people who haven't had the opportunity or the means to pursue these skills.
Help people get back in touch with their natural presence.

Testimonials
I had a lovely time in Jared's classes! I felt so relaxed & happy afterwards. I feel like my neurons have been firing differently since. Improv play & improv thinking is helpful to me as a product manager. - Adrienne Tran, Product Manager, Tesla

Jared has a knack for establishing a safe environment of trust & empathy so participants can play, take creative risks, & have fun learning. - Connor Warnock, Lead Engineer, Notable Labs

"Jared ran a workshop for a team offsite I hosted & there couldn't have been a better way to kick it off! The exercises he ran us through helped set a positive tone & encouraged the group to feel comfortable with each other. We practiced effective ways to communicate & listen & we found that later in the week we used these techniques. Highly recommended for a group activity - whether purely for fun or for more professional, work related scenarios!" - Liz Bogart, Marketing Manager at AngelList

"I so enjoyed Jared's class. I work with people who have experienced chronic homelessness, & the games he taught have given me new, joyful, playful strategies for really *listening* to the men & women I have the privilege of serving." - Bethany Hebbard, Community Corps Director, Mobile Loaves & Fishes
