In this time of accelerating climate & ecological change, how do we stay rooted, inspired, & connected-to ourselves, to one another, & to the Earth-to create a sustainable future for all?
Join the New York Society for Ethical Culture for an evening of discussion, reflection, inspiration, & joyful gathering as we explore the inner dimension of climate engagement at this critical time. Together, we'll rediscover the emotional, spiritual, & communal threads that can help guide us through uncertainty & bring about transformation.
We'll hear from:
Dr. Kate Marvel is a climate scientist & one of the premier science communicators working today, & author of Human Nature: Nine Ways to Feel About Our Changing Planet. A former cosmologist, Marvel received a PhD in theoretical physics from Cambridge University. She led the Climate Trends chapter in the U.S. Fifth National Climate Assessment, has given a TED Talk, appeared on Meet the Press & The Ezra Klein Show, & testified before the U.S. Congress. She has written for Scientific American, Nautilus magazine, & the On Being Project. She lives in Brooklyn with her family. Learn more about Kate at MarvelClimate.com.
Dr. Kritee Kanko, Zen Buddhist priest, climate scientist, & educator, who shares her re-indigenizing framework as a path to deep healing, spiritual resilience, & ethical action. Learn more about Kritee at KriteeKanko.com.
Carey Russell, master naturalist & dendrologist, who brings us into intimate relationship with the natural world through his tree walks in Central Park, cultivating ecological literacy, reverence for the living systems that sustain us, & a portal to fall in love with Nature all over again. Learn more about Carey at TheDendroLab.com.
A powerful performance by world-renowned choreographer Jody Sperling of Time Lapse Dance, whose visually stunning, kinesthetic storytelling-interweaving movement, sound, & science-bridges the divide between body & Earth, human & nature. Learn more about Jody at TimeLapseDance.com.
Come be nourished, moved, & reconnected. This is more than a climate event-it's a call to the heart.
