New to the New York game dev scene? This is an excellent chance to meet us & learn what we're all about.
Joining us this month is Daniel Kelley, Assistant Director of the Anti-Defamation League's Center for Technology & Society. The Center for Technology & Society (http://www.adl.org/CTS) is based in Silicon Valley & works on securing justice & fair treatment for all in a digital environment, working with the major social media platforms to fight cyberhate & harassment & working with academic institutions to build new technology to understand hate online, among other initiatives. Daniel is the lead on the center's new video game portfolio, where they're starting to look at how ADL can help the game community become more respectful & inclusive & address issues of hate, harassment & bias. In October, ADL did their first game jam which combined an allyship anti-bias workshop with a hackathon framework to teach game creators about allyship & have them build games based on those concepts. They're looking to meaningfully expand on this modest initial effort, & want your input on how best to do it.
Stop by to share your thoughts on issues of hate, harassment & bias facing the game community as well as your ideas on how the game community can be made more respectful & inclusive, & how ADL can use its resources to help.
