Every week, we pick one topic - a company or startup everyone's talking about, a technology reshaping an industry, or a shift in how things are being built or bought. Bring your laptop.
Here's how it works:
Check-in & Intros
15 minutes - decode solo. Quiet research time. Dig into the news, the product, the tech, the data. No talking, just thinking.
45 minutes - decode together. We open the floor. What did you find? Where do you disagree? What's convincing, what's overhyped, what would change your mind? This is where judgment actually gets built - not from reading alone, but from testing your read against someone else's.
Last few minutes - wrap up
You'll leave with a sharper read on the topic than you walked in with, & a few new perspectives you hadn't considered. That's the whole point.
This week's topic: The Reality of Data Centers in Space
Starcloud just raised $250M to build satellites that run AI workloads in orbit, joining Google's "Project Suncatcher" & a SpaceX effort in a race to solve AI's power problem by moving compute off the planet entirely. The pitch is compelling - unlimited solar power, no water usage - but basic questions about heat dissipation, launch costs, & maintenance remain mostly unanswered.
We're decoding: Is space-based computing a real solution to AI's real estate & energy issues?
Supporting questions: What would actually have to be true for orbital data centers to beat a terrestrial one on cost? Who's positioned to win this race - the well-funded startups (Starcloud), or the hyperscalers who already have the capital & infrastructure (Google, SpaceX)?
