The rise of digital technologies, such as AI, Data Analytics, & Cloud Technology requires companies to innovate & transform continuously. However, transformation is challenging, with two out of three transformation programs not meeting their objectives. This is often due to organizational inertia - a stickiness of practices & processes that undermines successful change. Based on his analyses of case studies from digital transformation programs at DAX30 companies, Thomas Haskamp will explore the concept of organizational inertia & discuss how large corporations can learn to dance again, despite deep-rooted corporate practices.

Thomas Haskamp is a Research Associate at the Chair of Design Thinking & Innovation Research with Prof. Dr. Falk Uebernickel from the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI), Germany's leading digital engineering faculty. With his background in business innovation from the University of St. Gallen (HSG) & a significant amount practical experience, he is involved in research & teaching in the areas of digital innovation, transformation, & design thinking. He publishes & speaks regularly at scientific conferences in the field of information systems & management about findings from his research around organizational inertia as part of the HPI-Stanford Research Program. He is currently a visiting researcher at the MIT Center for Information Systems Research in Boston.
