The Functional Streams for Scala (FS2) library provides the core infrastructure for many critical components in the open-source Scala ecosystem, including libraries like http4s & doobie. In this talk, well look at a sample network-based chat client & server, focusing on how FS2 makes building complex, concurrent programs simple.
Michael Pilquist is the author of a number of open-source Scala libraries, including Scodec, Simulacrum, & ip4s. He is a committer/maintainer on many other projects in the Scala ecosystem, including Cats & FS2. He works as a Distinguished Engineer at Comcast, where he uses Scala & functional programming to build video systems. He adopted Scala in 2008 & has fostered Scala & FP adoption throughout his company.
