Pioneer Works presents the 7th annual Software for Artists Day (S4AD), featuring an exciting lineup of artists, writers, & technologists.
About this event
Pioneer Works is ecstatic to present the 7th annual Software for Artists Day (S4AD), featuring an exciting lineup of artists, writers, & technologists bringing much needed context & form to a new & shifting technological landscape. The conversations of this years' S4AD aim to disentangle an online self shaped by a multiyear pandemic, strange advancements in the world of hardware & software technologies, & numerous uprisings for social change. Collectively we will ask how increased virtual mediation & growing skepticism of current network models has given way to radically new considerations, problems, & modes of expression in art, culture, & beyond.
To coincide with the event, Pioneer Works has collaborated with Willa Kerner & Tommy Martinez to publish a second edition of Software for Artists Book, titled Untethering the Web. The book features contributions by Jace Clayton, Aria Dean, Mat Dryhurst, Nora N. Khan, Jenson Leonard, Umber Majeed, Trevor McFedries, Everest Pipkin, Billy Rennekamp, & Mindy Seu. The release includes a new collection of Digital Diary entries, submitted through a public open call, which illustrate our evolving & often slippery relationship with new technologies. Software for Artists Book: Untethering the Web will be available to purchase at the event. A discounted book is available with ticket purchase.
