How does your team communicate about product, engineering, & design?

Software teams, even just 5 years ago, generally worked within a unified software ecosystem. The rise of exceptional tools for deployment & distribution has resulted in a rapid shift to microservice architectures & a mature standard of practice within the DevOps community. Software teams are now easily distributed, often times in silos focused on their specific business unit or area of specialization. The result can often be a dramatic breakdown of communication & loss of product quality & team efficiency.

The factors that created the now-mature DevOps community have greatly influenced how many companies are adopting design systems (aka DesignOps). Additionally, communication tools have both helped & hindered teams. Managing & distilling down the daily firehouse of information to enable individuals within product teams to make the right choices with the right context is compounded every year as more tools are introduced. This talk focuses on the challenges of communication within distributed teams & some solutions currently working at rapidly scaling & enterprise companies such as StitchFix, WeWork, Autodesk, & GE.
