Back by popular demand, Metis NYC will be hosting One Day at Bootcamp to give you a chance to see what the experience is really like! Youll receive free, interactive training in beginner-level Python from Senior Data Scientist at Metis, Vinny Senguttuvan.

The curriculum is designed for those with zero prior exposure to Python & the data science stack for Python.

Schedule:

- 10:00 - 10:30 - Setup & Orientation

- 10:30 - 12:00 - Python Basics

- 12:00 - 1:00 - One Hour Break

- 1:00 - 1:30 - Python Exercises

- 1:30 - 2:30 - Group Python Project - Text Reader

- 2:30 - 3:00 - Group Presentations

The first 1.5 hours will introduce the basics of Python, focusing on the portions of Python that are most essential to using the language in a practical way.

Midway, we'll break for one hour. Lunch will not be provided, but there are plenty of great options nearby in NoMad/Flatiron.

After lunch, we'll reconvene & focus on hands-on learning by working on various exercises with Python. Finally, youll build a small project that works with text data, loading files, cleaning strings, etc. to find what words are the most common in a document.

Requirements:

A laptop with Anaconda installed.
