Hello world, Sorry for the long hiatus, but it's that time again! Our monthly JavaScript Meetup!

const Matthias_Jenny = {

Bio: Matthias Jenny is a full-stack web developer & teacher with a passion for logic. After writing a PhD thesis on computability theory, conditionals, & non-classical logic at MIT, he is now based in New York City, where he is an Instructional Manager at App Academy.,

Talk_Description: JavaScript is a single-threaded language, but browsers use multiple threads to handle asynchronicity. I set out to explore how much we can leverage the multi-threaded nature of browsers with asynchronous recursive functions. The results are decidedly mixed & deeply confusing. This talk explores these results, which boil down to this: Asynchronous recursive functions perform best when run in the main thread in Chromium-based browsers. But they are never faster, & usually much slower, than their synchronous counterparts.
