What is NYC School of Data?
Join us for BetaNYC's annual community-driven civic tech conference. Participants come to learn, network & collaborate around public interest technology, data & design in New York City. With programming support from the Open Data Team at the NYC Office of Technology & Innovation, our conference convenes city officials, technologists, designers, data analysts, & community members around open data, civic technology, & service design in New York City.

This year we are back at CUNY School of Law on March 18th, 2023 to commemorate the 13th anniversary of international Open Data Day, the 11th anniversary of the City's transformative Open Data Law, & conclude NYC Open Data Week.

There will be trainings, workshops, demos, talks, presentations, & office hours with NYC agencies on topics like data literacy, privacy, smart cities, open government, service design, & civic engagement. Our goal is to equip YOU with tools & information that support your efforts to build a better civic society for all New Yorkers.

Come learn & contribute to the next decade of technology, data, & policy - by us, for us!

The following mission-aligned organizations are helping us cover conference costs & enabling us to come together in 2023. Thank you!

Revinvent Albany advocates for transparent & accountable New York State government & increased transparency in New York City. We work to strengthen the Freedom of Information Law & put government information online, especially spending, contracting & budget information & we are vocal advocates for open data laws & practices. We also advocate for more accountable & better governed state authorities, including the MTA. We also work for transparent business subsidies & economic development spending rooted in facts & careful analysis. We seek to create a state government that is responsible, responsive & above board & thus we fight for public integrity measures & against laws & practices that increase the risk of corruption & favor the few & well connected over the public interest.
