EVENT DETAILS |
Artist Stephanie Dinkins will discuss the aritificial intelligence character that she & her niece are creating, based on the lives of three women in their family. The AI piece blurs the line between narrative & documentary, between fact & algorithmically generated fiction. Dinkins workshopped the AI piece, called NOT THE ONLY ONE, at Sundance's New Frontier Story Lab in May of this year. The installation will be a "multigenerational memoir of one Black, American family told from the mind of an artificial intelligence of evolving intellect."
Dinkins, who grew up in Staten Island, is a photographer who has taught at Stony Brook University for more than a decade. She teaches a range of subjects: Artificial intelligence & socially-engaged practice in the context of race, gender & future histories; digital media--particularly lens-based & interactive practices; video; installation art; and, of course, photography.
Please note:
Ticket sales end at noon EST on November 8th. All sales are final.
This event will be filmed & photographed for marketing & social media use.
