The Abdul Latif Jameel Water & Food Systems Lab (J-WAFS) at MIT would like to invite you to a panel discussion titled Trading for Food Security in a Changing Climate".
International food trade has become essential for global food security, but the same interconnected networks that move food also transmit shocks-climatic, economic, & geopolitical. A panel of relevant industry experts will examine the linkages between food trade & food security through the lens of healthy diets & introduce the Jameel Index for Food Trade & Vulnerability, developed by MIT J-WAFS. The Index maps food-trade vulnerability across more than 180 countries.
Join us for a moderated discussion on three questions: how to assess food security versus an inability to import; what balance of home-grown & imported food best serves healthy nutrition as diets shift; & where investment in productivity, infrastructure, & research are most needed as the climate changes.
