This session highlights two women committed to the ability of women to take career breaks without sacrificing career progression. It often requires reskilling. However, there are a great number of resources available. Learn from the best!
Lori Hill is a successful relauncher, now as a software engineering manager with NBCUniversal. Her team creates apps which stream CNBC on Roku, Apple TV & Fire TV. Lori was a mainframe software developer for the first 10 years of her career. Following the birth of her second child, she took a career break & didn't return to a corporate technical career for 22 years. Lori's relaunch journey began with a nine-month training course in IOS development. She spent the next four years writing apps as an independent developer. Ultimately, networking & the advocacy of a woman who recognized her potential landed Lori a job as an iOS developer. She has continued to thrive in her seven years at NBCUniversal from developing iOS apps to managing engineering teams for Peacock & CNBC. Most recently in her role as manager, she welcomed a relaunching engineer to her team through NBCUniversal's Act Two program. When she logs off from working remotely at home in Seattle, she enjoys kayaking & spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Carol Fishman Cohen is the CEO & Co-founder of iRelaunch, a career reentry consulting, training and
events company focused on bringing professionals back into the workforce after extended leave. iRelaunch works with employers to build & expand in-house return to work programs, produces the iRelaunch Return to Work Conferences, & leads a community of more than 100,000 relaunchers looking to return to work. Cohen, a relauncher herself, hosts the 3,2,1 iRelaunch podcast & writes regularly for Harvard Business Review. Her TED talk - How to get back after a career break - has over 3.6 million views.
