Best motivation to change careers: hate current job; financial rewards; power; greater glory; keep busy; unfulfilled ambition?

About this Event
Do you change careers because you seek more money, are in a job you dislike or due to a mid-life crisis? Do you restart careers because you are bored or eager for bigger challenges? What is the best motivation for a new focus & renewed energy: financial rewards; greater glory; something to keep busy; chasing an unfulfilled ambition? Do you need to acquire special skills to make career switches? Or is interest in a new career more important for success?

These issues will be discussed by a Silley Circuits panel: Annette Herfkens, a best selling author & former Wall Street banker; Brian Kinsella, a Wall Street banker & former army captain; Kurt Soderlund of Safe Water Networks & founder of healthcare consultancy; & Christine Loomis, a banker turned professional coach, who will moderate.

Annette Herfkens left Wall Street after being one of the biggest revenue generating bankers at ING Group & Banco Santander. A Turbulence: A True Story of Survival, a book she wrote after surviving a plane crash, became a best seller. Having raised a daughter & a son, she is back working on getting the book made into a film. http://annetteherfkens.com/

Brian Kinsella, a former army captain, co-founded a mental health start up in 2018 after leaving Goldman Sachs. He is also a senior adviser to Roberts & Ryan, a service disabled veterans owner broker dealer. Earlier he worked at BNP Paribas after serving fours years in the army. Brian is chairman & co-founder of the philanthropy Stop Soldier Suicide. He studied Political Science at John Hopkins. https://roberts-ryan.com/team/brian-kinsella/

Kurt Soderlund is CEO of Safe Water Networks which supplies clean water to about one million people, through a network of over 300 small entrepreneurs in India & Ghana. Safe Water was founded by Paul Newman. (https://www.safewaternetwork.org/about) Earlier Kurt was a special assistant to the president of the New School University, where he supported the university's international programs & the president's work as Chairman of Human Rights Watch. His business experience includes co-founding NorthStar Partners, a business development consultancy in healthcare, & an internet start-up spun out of Marketing Corporation of America & funded by leading technology firms. Kurt has degrees from Cornell University & the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

The panel will be introduced by Christine Loomis, a Senior Consultant with Lee Hecht Harrison, who coaches professionals in career transition. Earlier, her 25-year banking career included being SVP of the US-Russia Investment Fund, based in Moscow; consulting for AIG Consumer Finance & Societe Generale; being a VP at NatWest; & working at Chase Manhattan. Christine is on the Board of Governors & Co-Chair of the Program Committee at the Princeton Club of NY. A BA from Princeton University, she has an MA from Columbia University.
