The CNCF Sustainability Week is an annual event organised by the CNCF Technical Advisory Group for Environmental Sustainability (TAG ENV) in collaboration with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF). The event's main goal is to promote environmental sustainability in the cloud native industry & open source space.

Nancy will also shine a light on recent initiatives & emphasize the significance of environmental sustainability in todays world. She will also explain how we can contribute as an individual to projects

Bio: Nancy Chauhan is an engineer with a passion for products, technology, & sustainability. As a CNCF Ambassador & Communications Chair for the TAG Environmental Sustainability Working Group, she leads the efforts for Sustainability Week. In her free time, Nancy also leads the Women in Cloud-Native community, empowering others to engage with cloud-native technologies & sustainability initiatives.

06:40 - 07:25 PM - How NASA scientists & Navteca technologists use Cloud Native to collaborate on addressing climate change (Shayna Solis & Ramon Ramirez-Linan, Navteca)

We will be joined by Shayna Solis & Ramon Ramirez-Linan from Navteca. Ramon will present on NASA's High Performance Computing (HPC) carbon footprint tracker for Kubernetes, & how NASA scientists use this to analyze & experiment with Earth Science data to address climate change. Shayna will show some climate change-related work Navteca has created in close collaboration with NASA, including sea level & extreme weather modeling, simulation & training tools.

Bio: Shayna Solis is co-founder, CEO, & creative mastermind of Navteca (https://www.navteca.com), a technology company that has been pioneering the use of immersive, interactive technologies for Earth science, working closely with NASA & others to push the boundaries of data visualization & knowledge sharing using game engines, conversational AI, & open science platforms. Shayna also founded the non-profit organization, Climate Warrior Collective, to raise awareness about climate change & make caring about the Earth more modern & relevant to diverse populations.

Ramon Ramirez-Linan is Co-founder & CTO of Navteca, leading the technology vision, & delivering products & solutions like Voice Atlas (https://www.voiceatlas.com) & Open Science Studio (https://www.opensciencestudio.com/). He is currently the Cloud Solutions & innovations lead for the NASA Science Cloud (SMCE), & has also participated in many NASA Cloud initiatives, like NASA NGAP, NASA HQ MCE. In the NASA Science Cloud, Ramon focuses on using AWS EKS to deliver services like Jupyterhub connected to HPC Clusters & using AWS Cloud services to facilitate & promote Open Science.
