Lecture: Your Body, Their Data: The Ethics of Storing You
Speaker: Professor Melissa Chodziutko
Biometrics are all around us; we unlock our phones with a glance or a fingerprint countless times a day. But how deep does this technology really go? Join Professor Melissa Chodziutko for an eye-opening discussion on the intricacies of biometric technology, which now encompasses everything from voice recognition to DNA matching, & how it has become increasingly embedded in our daily lives.
As biometrics become more complex, they also store more of our unalterable data. This raises essential questions: Are these technologies truly necessary? How do they function, & who is responsible for storing this deeply personal information? Most importantly, should we allow this level of data collection?
As biometric tech advances, join us in exploring whether we are enhancing security or giving away too much of ourselves.
Don't miss this opportunity to engage with the pressing ethical issues surrounding biometric data!
