Another influential app, "Mobile Justice," developed for the ACLU in 2012, empowers users to document & report incidents of police misconduct. Additionally, "WorkIt," the pioneering mobile AI chatbot introduced in 2016 for OurWalmart, aids workers in understanding their rights & accessing relevant resources. Adam Haber, Co-Founder Trellus
As a small business owner & entrepreneur, Adam has real experience creating jobs, attracting capital, & managing complex budgets. He had a 22-year career as a commodity options trader, has owned three restaurants (one of which had a Michelin Star), & is a non-operating principal of ScanlanKemperBard, a Portland, Oregon-based commercial real estate merchant bank. Adam is also an active member of the Long Island Angel Network & has invested in & advised multiple startups.
In January 2021, Adam & his partners launched Trellus Same-Day Local Delivery & Marketplace. They recognized that the continued expansion of Amazon & big- box e-commerce giants on Long Island makes it increasingly difficult for local small businesses & downtowns to compete on a digital landscape. Meanwhile, the COVID pandemic has had lasting impacts on the retail industry. Consumers increasingly shifted to online purchasing as delivery wait times became shorter. Adam & his team designed Trellus in response to these challenges & prioritized the best interests of independent small businesses. Trellus provides local businesses the technology platform & reliable network of gig-drivers they need to offer on-demand, same-day delivery. These merchants are empowered to handle their own fulfillment, as the Trellus pricing model doesn't cut into their profits per transaction & makes sense for their bottom line. In turn, local customers can get the items they need faster & more conveniently, from trusted local businesses in their community.
Currently, 90% of Trellus deliveries are completed in under two hours & 100% of deliveries are completed same day. There are more than 425 Long Island & Westchester merchants on the Trellus network, which is growing each day & they have successfully completed 85k+ deliveries. Trellus is planning to the rollout of a new Marketplace platform Q1 2024, where customers & merchants will transact directly.
As CEO at Trellus, Adam works closely with his team & embraces his role as a community developer. He enjoys spending time connecting with local entrepreneurs & looks forward to strengthening NY Metro's small business community for the future.
