**NOTE: This month's Cornell Tech @ Bloomberg event will be hosted at Bloomberg's 120 Park Avenue office. Please check the WHEN & WHERE section below for details.**

Bloomberg, Cornell Tech, & Tech:NYC invite you to join us for the latest installment of the Cornell Tech @ Bloomberg Speaker Series, featuring economist & writer Chris Hughes in conversation with Isabelle Lee, Cross-Asset Reporter with Bloomberg News.

In his new book, Marketcrafters: The 100-Year Struggle to Shape the American Economy, economist & writer Chris Hughes explores the modern history of American capitalism. He shares stories of those who successfully & unsuccessfully shaped markets, & reveals how both political parties have consistently used markets to achieve their social & political goals, such as avoiding gasoline shortages, reducing inflation, fostering the American aviation & semiconductor industries, addressing climate change, & encouraging financial innovation.

Hughes brings a unique perspective to this discussion. He co-founded Facebook in 2004 & directed Barack Obama's digital organizing efforts in 2008.

In 2016, Hughes co-founded the Economic Security Project (ESP), which advocates for building economic power for all Americans, particularly through the use of antimonopoly policy & guaranteed income policy. The organization was instrumental in expanding the Child Tax Credit during the pandemic. His first book, Fair Shot: Rethinking Inequality & How We Earn, was published in 2018.

We hope you'll register for the opportunity to attend this engaging & timely conversation about economic policy, financial markets, & the future of the American economy. Hughes will share insights on how understanding past successes & failures of past marketcrafters can inform the development of future markets, like those in artificial intelligence & clean power, to be innovative, stable, & inclusive.
