Adam Goers

Chair, New York Medical Cannabis Industry Association

VP Corporate Affairs, Columbia Care

Adam serves as Chairperson of the New York Medical Cannabis Industry Association. In that role Adam helps advance the Association's mission of protecting & serving the patients in New York's medical marijuana program while leading the way for proposed adult-use legalization across the state. NYMCIA is comprised of the leading manufacturers in the state: Citiva, Columbia Care, CrescoLabs, PharmaCann, The Botanist & Acreage NY, & Vireo Health.

Adam is the VP of Corporate Affairs of Columbia Care & helps develop new market opportunities & leads their public affairs communications & external affairs activities. Columbia Care operates one of the largest portfolios (14 U.S. states/jurisdictions + the EU) of highly regulated, licensed medical cannabis product development, research, manufacturing & dispensing operations in the United States. The company produces industry leading pharmaceutical quality products & has research & clinical partnerships with top academic & medical institutions including; Columbia University, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute & Mount Sinai Hospital.

Adam was a long-time Senior Advisor to then Governor O'Malley of Maryland as well as a Advisor to the Democratic Governors Association. Amongst others, he worked for then Governor Tim Kaine & Senator Hillary Clinton.

Adam earned an MBA from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania & received his B.A. in Political Science & Economics from Colorado State University. He is passionate about history & is an appointee of Governor Terry McAuliffe to the Virginia State Historical Records Board. He lives in New York City.

David L. Nathan, MD, DFAPA is a Princeton, New Jersey based psychiatrist, educator & consultant, working exclusively through Princeton Psychiatry & Consulting. He is also a professional speaker & published author on diverse topics in medicine, academia & social justice.



Originally from the Philadelphia area, Dr. Nathan graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University. He received his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where he distinguished himself in the development of medical education software. He subsequently entered the McLean Hospital Residency Training Program of Harvard Medical School. In his final year at McLean, Dr. Nathan served as Chief Resident of the Bipolar & Psychotic Disorders Program. In this capacity, he supervised residents on the inpatient service & founded an outpatient clinic with senior clinicians & residents.



Dr. Nathan is the Director of Continuing Medical Education for the Princeton HealthCare System (PHCS) & the Director of Professional Education for Princeton House Behavioral Health (PHBH). He is board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology, & he remains involved in teaching as a Clinical Associate Professor at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) of the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey. Dr. Nathan serves as the Physician Advisor for the New Jersey State Chapter of the Depression & Bipolar Support Alliance. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, the highest membership honor bestowed by the APA.



Dr. Nathan is a leading advocate for evidence-based changes in drug policy, focusing on principles of public health & social justice. Please note that Dr. Nathan's views on drug policy do not necessarily reflect those of PHCS, PHBH, or RWJMS. He has published numerous articles on the subject for local, national & international news outlets. In 2014 he was appointed to the steering committee of New Jersey United for Marijuana Reform (NJUMR), which is a coalition of the New Jersey chapters of the ACLU, NAACP & other organizations. He is the founder & Board President of Doctors for Cannabis Regulation (DFCR), the first & only national & international physicians' organization dedicated to the legalization, regulation & taxation of marijuana. He was the main author of DFCR's founding document, A Declaration of Principles, which was published when the organization launched in April 2016.
