AI technology like OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google's Gemini, Anthropic's Claude, Midjourney & many others will play an increasingly large role in our day-to-day lives. To this end, New York AI Users will host our monthly tech talks & social gathering at Vellum AI's high rise office in downtown Manhattan. Vellum is an AI startup that develops agents to automate your boring ops tasks. It is also sponsored by Ai4, who are hosting America's largest AI conference in Las Vegas in August, & who is also providing free drinks & food for the event. The space & accommodations are perfect for our talks & the social time that follows.
From the creators & organizers of New York Tech & Beer, New York AI Users organizes high-quality AI events that both educate & connect AI enthusiasts in the New York area who use or want to use AI to meet their creative, entrepreneurial, & technical aspirations. No technical background is required, only an interest in learning about these tools of the future. Founders, engineers, & creatives are all welcome!
For our March meeting, we will gather at Vellum & we will host talks on AI followed social time with the speakers & attendees for the remainder of the evening, with free drinks & food throughout.
The Talks:
For our first talk, we will hear from David Vargas. What's Coming After Coding Agents. "Almost 40% of my PRs are done by a coding agent today. But they might become a thing of the past. In this talk, I'll share what I've learned while building a reliable personal assistant & why I believe personal intelligence will replace coding agents entirely. I'll also walk through the principles shaping my engineering decisions to make it safe & trustworthy: strict permission scoping, full visibility into access, progressive trust over time, & systems designed to avoid overreach. We'll cover persistent memory, the security tradeoffs of running assistants locally vs in the cloud, & how assistants are changing the way we'll do our work in the future (the coming months!)." David Vargas is a founding engineer at Vellum, building secure systems for personal intelligence. He also maintains the API Liability Framework, a proposal advocating that every automated agent action must map to a clearly accountable human. He holds a Master's in Computer Science & a Bachelor's in Mathematics & Computer Science from MIT.
Our second talk will be by Leonid Gorkin. Investing with AI. Leonid Gorkin will present his latest project, Portfolio Genius. This platform leverages advanced AI to build & analyze financial portfolios spanning stocks, ETFs, & crypto. In this talk, Leonid will share his experience developing the product, the challenges he overcame along the way, & provide an in-depth look at the technologies powering it. Leonid Gorkin graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics & Technology with a degree in Applied Physics & Mathematics, then built a long career in software engineering spanning Morgan Stanley, Google, Snapchat, & several startups. His most significant project was leading the development of the backend for Snap Map, written in Go & supporting many millions of users each day.
We're excited to see you soon!
