Big Data just like in other industries is transforming the financial sector step by step. Whether it's your mobile banking app that is starting to make purchase recommendations or the spending patterns that are being analyzed to serve clients better, financial services as an industry is being impacted all the way from data capture requirements through regulation to technical SQL limitations. Before you can run machine learning algorithms & automated decisioning you need to structure your data in a way that allows it, before you can extract core market trends you need to separate noise & signal; not to mention that some of the market insights aren't actionable due to insider trading laws.
