EVENT DETAILS
What is SheConnects?
SheConnects is a monthly opportunity for women in business to come together. Our members come from all walks of the business world & across all ages.

All we ask is that you are open-minded, willing to share your experiences & genuinely interested in connecting with other like-minded professional women.

Each month we offer opportunities to network as well as learn about business, leadership & personal development topics.

What's it like at an event?
Our events are always interactive - having fun is definitely part of the plan!

We usually start & finish the evening with open networking with a shared learning experience taking up the time in the middle - usually an interactive workshop focusing on learning skills that can help us in our day to day lives, in work & outside.

If you've been before, you know what to expect. If it's your first time, don't worry - it's friendly & fun - nothing too heavy but still the opportunity to learn some cool stuff & meet some great people.

This month, we have another of our amazing Inspiration Panels.
Join us to hear 5 amazing women talk about their journeys through life (so far!) & what's helped them get to where they are now.

Danei Cesario is only the 333rd black female licensed architect in American history + founder of WALLEN + daub. From Manchester, England, she became enamored at an early age with New York City's intricacies & architectural prestige. She is a Project Manager at SOM, leading dynamic healthcare & wellness projects.

Danei is an advocate for architecture. In addition to WALLEN + daub, she chairs AIA New York's Diversity & Inclusion Committee & is a contributor to organizations such as the UN, RIBA, Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation, Parlour, Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust + nycobaNOMA. She is dedicated to fostering Mentorship, Sponsorship + Leadership among the diverse design community as they navigate their careers.

Ilse Knecht has dedicated the last 16 years of her career to ending violence & creating better communities. As Director of Policy & Advocacy at the Joyful Heart Foundation she combines her passion for social justice & her experience of sexual violence issues to work for a world free of sexual assault, domestic violence & child abuse. She credits her mother with instilling a duty to do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Her role sees Ilse travelling across the country to lobby politicians & society leaders to transform society's response & attitude to sexual violence issues.

Janice McCune is a writer & singer, & also 20 year veteran of the finance industry, where she writes annuity contracts for Fortune 500 companies. Prior to entering the world of finance, she worked with non profits focused on raising self esteem & social efficacy in young people. She has travelled to 14 countries & 26 states, most recently heading to Cuba with the Daybreaker community.

She is currently working on a short story collection, rehearsing an upcoming three woman show & spreading the word about Alcohol Free bars & other information through her Facebook group, 0% + 100% Fun.

Michelle McKinnon is a Financial Adviser, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER & Vice President at Payne Capital Management. With almost a decade of experience, Michelle is passionate about providing her clients with customized financial planning focused on achieving their goals. Her passion is enabling women's financial independence. She chairs the Smart Women Invest advisory board for Payne Capital. Under her leadership, the firm has pioneered hiring & training programs that have resulted in a 6 strong team of female financial advisers.

Michelle is a weekly commentator on Fox Business' Varney & Co & a frequent guest on CNBC's Squawk Box & Power Lunch. She also writes on financial issues for Business Insider & the Daily News.

Olive Persimmon is an author, speaker & public speaking coach. She's written two novels, with her latest The Coitus Chronicles detailing her quest to get her mojo back after a 5 year dry spell. She's taught public speaking everywhere from Goldman Sachs to Charity Water to HBO & passionately believes strong communication skills are an asset to anyone in any field.

In her free time, Olive writes letters to people for fun & loves to return home to the great state of Ohio.

Our Panel Host for the evening is Marina Romashko, Productivity Expert & Founder of Big Idea Lab.
