Blockchain, like other innovations in InsurTech, is disrupting business functions across the insurance industry including, information systems & cybersecurity, risk management, actuarial, data science, audit & financial control, legal, compliance, & brokerages. Old models of the insurance market, with high transaction costs, fraud & inaccuracies in claims, are ripe for greater efficiencies & disintermediation. Just a few figures to illustrate this:
Close to a half trillion dollars are spent annually in the US on administrative costs for health insurance*
The average US household pays a premium of $400-700 a year for insurance fraud (not counting healthcare)
PWC estimates that Blockchain can deliver $5-10 billion in savings on reinsurance
Yet with these opportunities come regulatory & related data privacy & security issues.Come & listen to some leaders in Blockchain implementation & experts in data privacy, compliance, & leading Yeshiva University Cardozo Law School & Katz School faculty explain & discuss these technologies & challenges.
Leaders from three innovative NYC-based companies in InsurTech & Data Privacy will participate in a panel discussion preceded by short presentations. The discussion will be facilitated by faculty from the Cardozo School of Law Masters in Data & Privacy Law & Katz School Masters in Enterprise Risk Management Programs at Yeshiva University.
