Spooky Civic AI Hackathon: Build AI Tools for NYC
Free. Open to everyone. No approval needed, just RSVP.

Come solo & we'll help you find a team. Free food for in-person builders.
Who can come?
Anyone who wants to build something for New York City: engineers, product managers, designers, people who used to code, & people who never have. The best teams pair people who know a problem with people who can build the tech.
Builders write the code & ship the tool.
Problem-solvers (PMs, designers, policy & community folks) pick the problem, shape how people will use it, & lead the pitch.
No team? No problem.
Most people come solo. You can meet teammates at our Oct 14 & Oct 15 classes, or at Friday's kickoff.
Pick a track
The Existential Track: Climate & Sustainability. Heat, waste, food access, cleaner air.
Urban Nightmares: Housing, Healthcare, Education & Justice. Tenant rights, benefits, school help, legal info in plain English.
Ghost in the Machine: AI infrastructure & scaling. Build the parts under civic AI tools, like search, data, & agents that keep them running.
Physical AI for Good: Build AI that moves, with robot arm kits on site. No robotics experience needed.
You leave with a working prototype, a demo video, & a real project for your portfolio. Mentors will be on hand all weekend.
