About this Event
PM's role & focus can differ greatly based on the industry you're in as well as the size/type of the company you're working for. So how do we define what makes a good PM? From working across different industries (sports tech, fashion tech & now consumer tech) at companies of varying sizes (small private equity-owned company, medium venture capital-funded company, & larger public company), I had built this framework of what makes a good PM regardless of where you work, & this framework has always helped me stay on track through the years of my being a PM.
Main Takeaways:
Empathy: Voice of the customers, Understanding your team, the stakeholders
Balance: Tactical vs. strategic, Likeable vs. holding firm, Trusting your gut vs. following evidence/data
"Master of none, Jack of all trades": Learn quickly, be ready to pick up on a lot of things you've never heard about, Communicate cross-functionally, Be confident in what you know & what you do not know
Meet the Speaker: Kristine Oak
Kristine is passionate about user-centered design & making an impact where complex challenges are present. Currently, she is a Product Manager of Consumer Contributions at Yelp.
