The Center for Urban Science + Progress (CUSP) at NYU Tandon & Transit Techies welcome you to attend a talk by software engineer Christian Casazza on The Open Data Stack.
Open-source is transforming the data engineering space. By combining tools like Parquet, Arrow, Datafusion, DuckDB, & Dagster, data product creation can achieve a collective 1000x improvement in cost, performance, & simplicity. Plus - thanks to LLMs, it has never been easier to quickly learn how to build with these tools!
Join Christian Casazza, Data Engineer, where he'll speak about The Open Data Stack. He'll show you how to use these open-source tools to ingest transit data from government data portals/3rd party APIs, run a SQL transformation pipeline, & visualize the results as a live web app (all for free from your laptop!). Then, learn how to work with an LLM like ChatGPT to write ETL code, build SQL queries, & create frontend apps.
Connect with NYU Tandon CUSP & Transit Techies NYC at this talk & enjoy networking over light bites & refreshments. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own food.
The event will be held in Room 1201 on the 12th Floor of 370 Jay St. We hope to see you there!
