This event will bring together leaders across reentry, workforce development, government, philanthropy, & community to ask a critical question: How do we ensure that New York's transition to a green economy creates opportunity & economic mobility for communities too often excluded from emerging industries?
Co-convened by Fordham University & The Institute for Justice & Opportunity (IJO) at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, the summit will explore how green career pathways can expand access to quality jobs & economic mobility for justice-impacted New Yorkers & their families, while ensuring their experiences & perspectives help inform how those pathways are built.
The day moves from conversation to action, beginning with a candid City-State Fireside Chat & solutions-oriented discussions on reentry & workforce pathways, followed by an interactive Green Careers & Community Street Fair featuring workforce & service providers, the Bronx Green Jobs Center, a NYC Decarbonization Mural activation, community engagement, food, & live music.
Because a just transition is not only about transforming our buildings, infrastructure, & communities. It is about ensuring that the people who have historically been left out of economic opportunity have a meaningful role in shaping, building, & benefiting from what comes next.
