Talk 1:A machine intelligence perspective on risk & compliance in financial services.
Abstract:While the spend on risk & compliance technology continues to grow (Celent expects $72B in 2019) the fines & frequency of those fines by regulatory authorities is also growing. This reflects an expectation by regulators that financial institutions do a better job using the data at their disposal. The challenge is that legacy techniques are not well suited to the challenges of the modern data set - challenges defined by dimensionality, sparsity, unstructured & unlabeled data. These are challenges for machine intelligence & this talk will focus on emerging approaches (namely the combination of unsupervised learning, supervised prediction & extreme transparency) & how they are remaking the regulatory & compliance landscape.
