TUBZ's Lithium/Graphene Battery & Innventure/PureCycle--New Business Model & Technology that returns Polypropylene to "Virgin" Resin
About this Event
NOTE: This is a Special Format Greentech Investors Forum (GIF) gathering. There is no charge; only serious investors should attend; complimentary appetizers & drinks; TWO outstanding companies; attendance LIMITED to 20 attendees from the GIF network. DO NOT FORWARD THIS INVITATION! IT IS FOR GREENTECH INVESTORS FORUM MEMBERS ONLY. Call Gelvin Stevenson with any questions at 917-599-6089.

Two very exciting companies will present their business plans on July 17. They both employ unique, pathbreaking & patented technologies to solve two of the most significant environmental challenges of our time-energy storage & plastics pollution.

SUMMARY: TUBZ has developed the ultimate Lithium Metal Battery. Not Lithium Ion, but Lithium Metal. And there's a huge difference between those two. TUBZ's Lithium Metal & Graphene Nano-Tube anode has overcome one of the major barriers to further progress for Lithium Ion batteries-their dangerous Dendrites, which can cause fires-and established new performance standards.

SUMMARY: The production & consumption of plastic is a global challenge; 65+ billion pounds of plastic are produced annually, but less than 10% of all plastic is recycled. PureCycle will, when its flagship factory under construction in Ohio is complete, recycle over 100 million pounds of polypropylene annually. Polypropylene is the popular plastic that's used in everything from food packaging to construction materials. And they will be able to recycle it to near-virgin quality, through an innovative partnership with Proctor & Gamble P&G. Moreover, this looks to be only the first technology that P&G will spin off to Innventure.

NOTE: THIS COMMUNICATION DOES NOT CONSTITUTE AN OFFER NOR A SOLICITATION OF AN OFFER TO BUY OR SELL ANY SECURITIES. AN OFFER CAN ONLY BE MADE THROUGH A PROSPECTUS OR SUBSCRIPTION DOCUMENTS. PLACEMENT AGENT: GREAT POINT CAPITAL. CHICAGO, IL. MEMBER FINRA / SIPC.

Companies:

TUBZ is developing a safe, low-cost graphene-based Lithium metal energy storage technology that has high energy density & large specific capacity & is now ready for commercialization. TUBZ Lithium Battery & Lithium ultra-capacitor technologies have demonstrated superior performance to commercially available products in their categories. Also, the Sulphur-based product is substantially more sustainable compared to heavy cobalt content batteries, because Sulphur is so readily available as a residual from petroleum refining & other industrial processes & does not have to be mined.

TUBZ has also found the answer to the Curse of the Dendrites-those innocuous looking hair-like fibers that grow on Lithium Ion batteries. These are the little hairs that are responsible for fires in Lithium Ion batteries-as well as other mischief. When they grow long enough to touch each other, they short out & cause a fire.

The technology was developed at Rice University, where scientists created a rechargeable lithium metal battery with three times the capacity of commercial lithium-ion batteries by resolving something that has long stumped researchers: the dendrite problem. The Rice battery stores lithium in a unique anode, a seamless hybrid of graphene & carbon nanotubes. The material is essentially a three-dimensional carbon surface that provides abundant area for lithium to inhabit. The anode itself approaches the theoretical maximum for storage of lithium metal while resisting the formation of damaging dendrites or "mossy" deposits.

Dendrites have bedeviled attempts to replace lithium-ion with advanced lithium metal batteries that last longer & charge faster. Dendrites are lithium deposits that grow into the battery's electrolyte. If they bridge the anode & cathode & create a short circuit, the battery may fail, catch fire or even explode.

Rice researchers found that when the new batteries are charged, lithium metal evenly coats the highly conductive carbon hybrid in which nanotubes are covalently bonded to the graphene surface.

Aggregated Intellectual Property from Rice University allows the company to build a better battery & own the entire supply chain, which represents a major competitive advantage.

That IP provides the TUBZ Battery better performance than existing lithium ion batteries in several dimensions: According to the company*, Anodes are 10 times better; weight is 40% less; energy density if 70% more; cathodes are five times as good; charging time is faster; specific capacity is three times greater; & costs are reduced by 25% to 85%. *(see company material for detail)

PureCycle is a hugely significant company wrapped inside of an innovative business model. It is based on a patented technology that was developed in Proctor & Gamble labs, & licensed to PureCycle, which is a portfolio company of Chicago-based Innventure. Innventure, is funded, in part, by the Wasson Enterprise Partnership, also based in Chicago, that commercializes disruptive technologies. Proctor & Gamble is the first of several large Fortune 50 corporations to partner with Innventure.

PureCycle is constructing a factory in Lawrence County, Ohio, to recycle (restore might be a better word), used polypropylene (PP) plastic to virgin-like quality. The factory is under construction & is scheduled to go into full production in 2020. It already has long-term supply agreements from aggregators for their feed stock. Each factory will be able to produce over 100 million pounds of the estimated 6 billion pounds of demand for high-quality recycled PP, according to the Association for Plastics Recycling. The global PP market is valued at more than $80 billion & is projected to reach $133.3 billion by 2023. If all goes according to plan, there will be from nine to 24 PureCycle factories built, eventually.

PP is an amazing & widely used plastic. It is light-weight, flexible, strong & easy to dye. PP is a work-horse. It is used in automobile interiors, food & beverage packaging, consumer goods packaging, electronics, construction materials, home furnishings & many other products.

With so much around-discarded into landfills & tossed on streets & into waterways & oceans-it's an ideal candidate for recycling. But it's not that easy. When PP is recycled, it is very difficult to remove the dye & odors. At least it was until PureCycle's technology was developed. The new technology reportedly can remove virtually all contaminants & colors from used plastics & enable recycled plastics to achieve nearly identical performance & properties as virgin materials in a broad range of applications.

Why would P&G license such a winning technology to another company? P&G is smart enough to realize its limitations. This is not one of their core technologies-just not what they do. Plus, it realizes that sometimes smaller companies can be more focused & nimble. it transfers the technology to Innoventure, which specializes in these kinds of companies-businesses and/or technologies spun off of large corporations. Innoventure, which is funded by corporations, family offices & other sources. It sets up a side fund for PureCycle & similar types of businesses & brings in additional investors as Family Offices & Mezzanine debt. P&G & other Innoventure members receive royalties, equity & favorable pricing.

Innventure has just finished the license for the second P&G technology, Air Assist. This is a unique packaging technology which, because structural strength is provided by Nitrogen chambers, uses only half the normal amount of plastic. Therefore, it is environmentally friendly, & its best feature is that the nitrogen chambers act like automotive air bags to provide absorption of shock during shipping. This is very important because currently many e-commerce packages shipped with liquids burst, ruining that package & others in a pallet. The e-retailers thus spend up to $2/package to re-wrap before shipping. Because we can save this potential expense, one major e-retailer has told the company that they would like to use the Air Assist packaging for 80% of their liquid products.

Innventure is negotiating its first license with an Eli Lilly Elanco subsidiary & many more $1B+ opportunities are being investigated from both P&G & Elanco. Innventure plans to start 5-8 companies based on these pipeline partners technologies & market channels within the next 5 years
