Bringing together leaders from business, Indigenous communities, policymaking, finance, & academia, this session explores how Arctic innovation, from Indigenous knowledge to cutting-edge circular economy solutions, can deliver practical & scalable responses to climate, economic, & geopolitical challenges.
The Arctic is experiencing some of the world's fastest environmental, economic, & geopolitical change. In response, Indigenous communities, businesses, researchers, policymakers, & investors are developing innovative approaches that strengthen resilience while supporting sustainable economic growth.
Long before the term circular economy existed, Arctic Indigenous Peoples developed knowledge systems grounded in stewardship, resource efficiency, & long-term thinking. Today, these principles are complemented by advances in circular business models, clean technologies, sustainable finance, & policy innovation. Finland has emerged as a global leader in circular economy solutions, while Indigenous leadership across Spmi & the wider Arctic continues to demonstrate how traditional knowledge & community-driven approaches can shape resilient futures.
