Are you interested in creating websites and applications?

Do you want to increase your Javascript skills and learn new JS frameworks?

Announcing the Front-End Development study group, devoted to the pursuit of creating simple, efficient code in HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

What will I learn? (Depending on your skill level) HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, Javascript Frameworks (Angular, Node, Ember, Backbone), Projects

So what exactly IS this group? This is a weekly group of beginners, intermediates, and advanced participants. We meet every Monday and provide you with the tools to get started or continue your project, help for when you get stuck, and inspiration for the projects you can build through our demos.

Why is Front-End important? Whenever you go to a website, you are looking at the application of Front-End engineering. We use the computer languages HTML, CSS, and Javascript to take a designers work and turn it into reality.

The demand for Front-End engineers is incredibly high because of two reasons: 1) Javascript frameworks such as AngularJS and NodeJS allow Javascripters to apply their Front-End skills to the Back-End2) Higher diligence towards the user experience and design of the product (ex: Apples Flat design and Googles Material design).

Who is this event for? This event is for beginners (members without any Front-End knowledge), intermediates (members looking to start building a project or learn a framework), and advanced members (industry women looking for other fabulous engineers!).

We especially welcome beginners! If you are an intermediate or advanced member and would like either demo a project or try teaching, please reach out to wwcnyc@gmail.com!

Materials? Please bring a laptop and either a Front-End enthusiast or newbie!

Schedule:

6:30 Arrive/Network/Food
7:00 Welcome from Women Who Code
7:05 Welcome from our host and demos
