When Harry's launched Flamingo, a women's care brand, they invested in static rendering with Gatsby to deliver the site's frontend in a scalable & performant way.

This talk explores the differences between server-rendering & static-rendering for web frontends, & lays out the architecture for shopflamingo.com. It discusses the importance of building a performance culture through monitoring & automation, & how building for performance helps ensure that sites are accessible for users, regardless of their access to fast networks & devices.

Tim Brown (@_brimtown), Senior Software Engineer at Harry's / Flamingo is a software engineer who builds for the web. He loves crafting intuitive & performant experiences for users. He is a Senior Software Engineer at Harry's, Inc, focusing on frontend architecture, web performance, & design systems.
