SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
The VP of Engineering Casino & Gaming Platforms is responsible for leading FanDuel Groups casino & gaming development teams. This role has oversight on the engineering teams including third party vendors & contractor relationships supporting the function. You will partner with your peers across the senior engineering leadership team to run, manage, build, & retain in your vertical. The VP of Engineering will partner closely with the product, design, commercial, & security teams to deliver & execute strategic technical deliveries that align to the business priorities & goals. The Casino & Gaming vertical is responsible for the gaming interactions, customer interactions with integrated gaming vendors, & partnering with internal account & wallet teams to provide a unified web & mobile experiences.  25% travel required. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As VP of Engineering of Casino & Gaming, you will be managing multiple global development teams both in US & Europe. You will be responsible for building a world-class engineering organization with highly effective cross-collaboration between multiple teams across the organization. You will be responsible for delivering top notch gaming & casino experiences, integrating in-house & third-party gaming capabilities, & managing multiple third-party vendors technical relationships.

Youll enable your teams to deliver gaming & casino experiences for our users utilizing our proprietary technology & third-party vendor integrations. Working closely with other senior leaders across the business including product & commercial teams you will own & drive the technical execution & delivery of the teams in this vertical strategically with high operational excellence in mind. You will be personally responsible for driving the staffing & recruiting strategies across the offices, setting the technical vision & collaborative touchpoints for the other technical domains to partner with.

This role requires the candidate to partner with internal & external stakeholders, advising the leadership teams on technical tradeoffs & evaluating vendors as partners. The ability to evaluate a third-party technology capabilities & team quality will be key to drive successful integrations. Given the complexity of each of the regulations, this person must be detailed & able to navigate problems with solutions-oriented mindset. You will partner with the head of Casino Commercial & Product to develop a multi-year strategy that is technically & fiscally feasible.

This role will report directly to the CTO, partnering with the other senior engineering leaders to represent & run the vertical delivery plans. The role includes ownership of technical strategic planning, financial budget & headcount monitoring, report & auditing of any technical / vendor issues that happen across the physical & in the cloud infrastructures.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Own, deliver, innovate, build, & maintain the FanDuel Gaming Platform while understanding the customer & tech requirements to shape the organization & teams to deliver
  • Lead multiple engineering teams across multiple countries.
  • Set the technical direction of the Gaming & Casino vertical in alignment with the internal stakeholders such as Product, Commercial, & Strategy teams
  • Lead & participate in senior leadership meetings including presenting to the executive teams
  • Drive the hiring & recruiting strategies in partnership with Talent Acquisition to accelerate & meet hiring targets for headcount
  • Maintain high operational excellence around technical performance of systems, including security & uptime/availability of all services, infrastructure
  • Maintains a well-communicated portfolio of projects, prioritized for a clear understanding of what is in the pipeline & how it relates to overall strategy
  • Regularly reviews key projects from a progress standpoint; analyzes, progress, financials, issues, & expectations

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 15+ years of technology/engineering experience
  • 10+ years of experience building & leading high performing engineering teams
  • Experience managing organizations with multiple teams of 50+
  • Experience managing global teams across multiple time zones
  • Strategic thinking, problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong experience with platform development including web & mobile with high scale & enterprise grade services
  • Strong working experience building applications using modern frameworks & patterns
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal & external executives, partners, & customers
  • Demonstrated expertise navigating complex & ambiguous technical & organization issues
  • Experience working with third party vendors, building large scale integration platforms & delivering immersive experiences for both web & mobile
  • Demonstrated responsiveness & ability to handle multiple projects to meet needs of fast-paced environment
  • Experience in the sports, gaming, or casino industry preferred but not required
