A roundtable discussion with former investment bankers who made the leap into the world of startups
Investment bankers are becoming a driving force behind many of today's successful startups. If you're tired of building excel models, editing powerpoints and running 'scenarios' then join four reformed investment bankers as they discuss their journey from Wall Street to Silicon Alley and learn how you too can make the leap.
Colin Cunningham, Axial
Colin works at Axial, the platform where private companies go to grow and maximize the value of their business. Colin runs the division that serves business owners by helping them join the Axial network to raise capital, make acquisitions, and plan the eventual exit for their company. He previously worked as a bond salesman at Morgan Keegan (before it was gobbled up by Raymond James) on the corporate bond desk and mostly just surfed Bloomberg. He was a captain of the Holy Cross basketball team (alma mater of Bob Cousy) and is a co-founder of the Holy Cross Entrepreneurs Group here in NYC. Colin received a B.A. in Economics from the College of the Holy Cross.
Packy McCormick, Breather
Packy is the NYC City Manager at Breather, a Montreal-based startup building a network of private spaces throughout major cities that members can rent hourly or daily to meet, work or relax. Prior to joining Breather, Packy was accepted to business school but decided to pass up the opportunity to find a job at a startup. Previously, he spent four years in the Public Finance Group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch after being hired to do Sales & Trading. Packy received a B.A. in Economics from Duke University.
Anthony Serina, Revivn
Anthony is Co-Founder at Revivn, a certified b-corp that repurposes outdated technology for social and environmental impact. As Co-Founder, he oversees the sales and operations of the business. Prior to founding Revivn, Anthony spent four years at JPMorgan working in Equity Prime Services. He graduated from Villanova University with a degree in Finance and Accounting.
Moderator: Sameer Syed, Genesis Media
Sameer is Director of Business Development at Genesis Media, an Adtech startup changing the way publishers monetize content. Prior to joining Genesis Media, Sameer was as an investment banking analyst at JPMorgan for three years and also spent a year in JPM's internal consulting program. Sameer is the founder of “Wall Street to Silicon Alley” quarterly roundtable. He received a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan.
