We're excited to invite you to our latest Anew Salon, an intimate interview series centered on a new era of leadership and solution making, this time in conversation with Nabiha Syed, CEO of Mozilla Foundation. Our Anew Salon features conversations with mission-driven experts who are transforming companies, sectors, cities, and communities in brave, genre-defying new ways. This discussion will focus on how changemaking actually works, including the often messy work of forging new paths. Following the talk, well facilitate a lively interactive conversation. This event will be especially relevant to anyone interested in solutions-oriented work, looking for inspiration, insight, and connection to an ecosystem of problem solvers. For our latest Anew Salon, were excited to feature Nabiha Syed, CEO of Mozilla Foundation, a non-profit delivering people-first tech alternatives to todays extractive systems. Doors will open at 5pm, and the program will start by 5:30pm, followed by socializing until 7pm.
Nabiha Syed leads the Mozilla Foundation, where she backs the technology markets wont build (yet): practical tools for overlooked problems, technology that turns possibility into something people can use, and ideas whose most important customer isnt capital. Underneath all of it is one question: Who gets to decide what technology is for? She came to that question as a First Amendment lawyer, first as The New York Times First Amendment Fellow, in private practice, and then as BuzzFeeds first newsroom lawyer, defending journalists at the frontier where new technologies collided with old rules about speech, privacy, and the publics right to know. She then co-built and led The Markup, the investigative newsroom that used data journalism to show how algorithms govern everyday life; Fast Company named it one of the worlds most innovative companies. Anew is a gathering space and discovery center for social transformation located in NYC. We host interactive events and workshops, an accelerator program for nonprofits, and a retail lab featuring ethically-sourced coffee and gifts.
