EVENT DETAILS |
On May 19, PluggedIn will be discussing Podcasting from monetization, listener acquisition, & engagement. 2019 has gotten off to a fantastic start for the podcast industry withSpotify's deal to buy Gimlet Media for a reported $230 million in February which certified that prerecorded radio is big business. This just showed the rest of the industry what many of us already know, that podcasting is a platform that more & more companies will be turning to.
Podcasts made $314 million in revenue in 2017, according to a study of the U.S. market by the Interactive Advertising Bureau & PwC, which projected that number to rise to $402 million in 2018 & $515 million this year. It's substantial but not explosive growth, & the industry will remain a relatively small one unless it doubles several years in a row. By comparison, the U.S. radio industry made $22 billion in 2017, according to Deloitte.
This roundtable will be bringing in thought leaders in the industry to discuss when this will happen & what 2019 has in store for the industry.
