What youll do:

Be part of a world class group of engineers who build Vimeos video playback solutions
Work closely with our product & design team to develop & improve the viewing experience across a variety of platforms & devices
Work closely with transcoding & delivery teams & external CDN vendors to maintain & optimize a seamless video playback experience everywhere
Evaluate & evangelize new video streaming technologies, player customizations, & optimizations
Mentor & support software engineers on the Video Playback team
Build & maintain SDKs to support player interactivity & customizations
Instrument & analyze video playback experience metrics to continually optimize performance

Skills & knowledge you should possess:

4+ years of experience building large scale front-end web applications
Top notch native JS/HTML/CSS chops as well as experience using modern web technologies, such as TypeScript & React
Exceptional written & verbal communication skills
Knowledge of video performance metrics & a history of making data driven decisions
Passion for continuous education & research of the latest video technologies
Eagerness to be a member of a collaborative, empathetic, & inclusive team of software engineers

Bonus points (nice skills to have, but not needed):

2+ years of experience building video streaming software using various delivery formats (DASH, HLS, LL-HLS, Progressive etc.)
Capable of writing beautiful JavaScript code independently of any framework or 3rd party library
Follows current video trends in live playback, OTT, WebVR, WebGL
Experience building low-level libraries & tools utilized by other developers
Strong portfolio of public code and/or completed projects
