Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) seeks a highly capable, self-directed individual who is able to drive the setup, growth, & community presence as a General Manager of our new location in Warsaw, Poland. 

Founded in 1999, CIC's mission is to improve the world by helping exceptional entrepreneurs innovate better & faster.  We offer carefully curated working environments that combine private, secure offices alongside shared amenities in locations across Boston, Cambridge, Miami, Philadelphia, Providence, Rotterdam, St. Louis, Warsaw (2020) & Tokyo (2020) & are growing into other cities, within the US & abroad. We currently serve 1800+ startups, growth companies, & branches of larger organizations, representing for-profit, mission-driven, & non-profit sectors across a wide array of industries. The spaces are purposefully designed & built for innovation, featuring tailored workspaces such as biotech & robotics laboratories, & bring together frequent, large gatherings of the best & brightest innovators & entrepreneurs.

CIC's project in Warsaw will be one of the largest innovation-oriented centers in Europe. Opening in 2020, it will be located within the new landmark on Warsaw's map, Varso, the tallest building in the EU, situated directly next to the Warsaw Central train station. The team in Warsaw is made up of growth, software development & recruiting teams working together with team members across many different CIC locations.

Your day to day work 
You will be responsible for leading both the operational (Community) & sales (Relationship Management) teams of the center. You will build CIC Warsaw staff, client community, & reputation, while developing a financially successful business.

The General Manager will need to be adept at: 
building & managing teams, & helping individuals grow to their full professional capacity.
developing relationships with CIC clients, making sure they feel happy & connected to the innovation ecosystem both locally & globally.
helping prospective clients to understand how CIC works.
creatively finding ways to meet a very broad range of needs CIC clients may have, including (together with your team) performing a very broad range of tasks; from strategic management to simple day to day questions or issues clients can raise; that also could be addressed by client to CIC daily operations

The General Manager is the champion of the guidelines & philosophies of CIC! 

In addition to leading the day-to-day life at CIC, it is the responsibility of the General Manager to focus on growing & supporting the Polish entrepreneurial ecosystem. This person should be comfortable building & nurturing relationships with local entrepreneurs & community leaders, to help recruit other innovation-supporting organizations & infrastructure to the city (e.g. teaching programs, accelerators, shared facilities, venture funds) & for finding creative ways that CIC can support & amplify the good work that is already happening in the Polish ecosystem. 

Collaborate with the Venture Cafe Warsaw Foundation team to identify & execute on opportunities to improve value proposition to the CIC's clients 

Other responsibilities: 
You will be expected to manage the overall budget for the center, including setting revenue targets, managing costs, & reporting progress back to CIC Global.
You will be expected to become proficient in many internal systems & processes. Along with the other team members, it is important that you also become an expert at these processes so you can train & lead others as well as assist as needed. Examples of these include adding new clients & employees to our computer systems, issuing keys to their new office, installing a whiteboard, etc.
You will be responsible for communicating (ex. with weekly written updates to senior teams) & coordinating across departments at CIC Warsaw, within the Polish campus, as well as at CIC Cambridge at times. As such, the GM is the primary advocate for CIC Warsaw's staff & clients alike.
You will be expected to gather & report on evaluative data in a number of areas, including client satisfaction & business performance.
One of our goals is to maximize the percentage of time that our client service team members can dedicate to personally interacting with clients immediately when clients make requests, i.e. maximizing personal interaction. We will coach you on our methods to achieve this.
Most importantly, as the center's leader, you are there to make sure CIC is supporting its clients & team every day.

CIC has become integral in every innovation community we support, & we are seeking a strong leader. We expect you to be the public face of CIC in Warsaw & to lead the growth of the Warsaw innovation ecosystem. We also expect you to innovate how CIC does business by adapting what we do to local needs & then to share your innovations with your CIC colleagues elsewhere in the world.

You will:
have demonstrated leadership in the innovation community
have been a leading part of creating a new business or endeavor from the ground up
be naturally drawn to a start-up environment-a busy new venture should be exciting to you
be comfortable in an outward-facing role-you enjoy being a face of the business & actively networking
have several years of experience managing teams of self-directed people in a collaborative environment
have the capacity to build positive relationships with your team, clients, colleagues, & vendors, working comfortably with everyone from cleaning crews to CEOs & treating everyone as your equal
have a desire to learn all aspects of our business from the ground up
possess the ability to prioritize, delegate, & manage many tasks, & to create reliable systems
be someone known to lead by example-comfortable helping out with day-to-day tasks as necessary, e.g. happy to get your hands dirty, clean up the mess, or fix a copier
be personable & have an innate desire to help others
be creative, and bring fresh perspectives & new ideas (for sales, customer service, etc.) & implement them

Minimum of a bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred). Other diplomas & certificate e.g. CIM, PMP, Agile Management all are welcome!
7 - 10+ years of professional experience.
Fluent Polish & English required.
A natural interest in helping/supporting others.
Frequent attendance at innovation community gatherings across Warsaw, often in the evening during the week.
Very infrequent weekend obligations.
Some travel to other CIC locations as part of team events.
Master of Google Apps for Business (Gmail, Calendar, Drive) & of Microsoft Office (Powerpoint, Excel, etc).
Demonstrated success leveraging & supporting others in the achievement of their goals.
An interest in a long-term role. We are a growing company, & we like to hire people who will stay with us for the long term.

Full-time employment contract. Starting compensation commensurate with experience. Regular raises based on performance.
