Job Description

The Sr. Software Engineer would be a part of a high performance global team responsible for the delivery of features in the Resolve Online program. The candidate would need to analyze, design, code & unit test core modules of the Visa Resolve Online application & work with a global team of developers, SMEs & architects.

As a key member of the delivery execution team, candidate would need to create scalable designs, write maintainable code, reusable components/services/utilities, & test cases. Qualifications include good organizational skills, strong analytical & problem solving skills, good time management skills, ability to work independently, & effectively communicate with team members. The candidate must be capable of working in all phases of the application system development life-cycle.

The successful candidate will become a recognized Subject Matter Expert within Visa, responsible for contributing to the development & implementation of dispute processing capabilities for Visa Resolve Online application.


  • Understand business domain, analyze requirements, evaluate options & participate in scoping & sizing activities

  • Design, develop code, tests & maintain code for Resolve online application releases

  • Communicate & collaborate effectively with team members including vendor partner teams

  • Effectively participate in the technology proof-of-concepts & learn new technologies & frameworks

  • Understand & enhance coding guidelines & participate in code review processes

  • Create & maintain technical documentation

  • Collaborate with Requirements & Analysis group, QA team & Production Support team to ensure project alignment


Basic Qualifications:

  • 2 years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in Java/J2EE enterprise applications including Spring framework, Struts & Web services, UI frameworks (AngularJS, ReactJS etc.)
  • Strong Core Java skills.
  • Strong SQL skills, DB2 database experience preferred.
  • Excellent programming skills & strong problem solving & analytical skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the software development life cycle required.
  • Experience in the financial domain or payment industry is a plus
  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to present complex ideas & document in a clear & concise way.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies & takes pride in delivering working software
  • Knowledge of static code analysis tools, unit testing, test-driven development, performance testing

Additional Information

Work HoursThis position requires the incumbent to be available during & beyond core business hours.

Travel RequirementsThis position requires the incumbent to travel for work 5% of the time.

Mental/Physical RequirementsThis position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit & stand at a desk, communicate in person & by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones & computers, & reach with hands & arms.
